A Message from Mr Salisbury
Dear Parents, Whānau and Friends,
As we approach the end of another fantastic year at Harrisville School, this is our final newsletter for 2025.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. It is both a privilege and a great responsibility one that we value and take seriously. Your presence at school events, support from home, and willingness to work in partnership with us make a huge difference. The many opportunities provided to our students simply wouldn’t be possible without your involvement. As parents and caregivers, you can feel incredibly proud of the young people you are raising. They are a true credit to you. We deeply appreciate our relationship with you and thank you for your ongoing communication, trust, and collaboration in supporting our students.
We are incredibly fortunate at Harrisville to have dedicated, passionate, and skilled teachers who genuinely care about your children. They go above and beyond every single day planning high quality learning, organising extracurricular opportunities, building strong relationships, and creating an environment where every child can thrive. To our support staff our learning assistants, office team, cleaners, caretaker, and management team thank you. Your work often happens behind the scenes, but the impact is enormous. You are the backbone of our school, and we are hugely grateful for all you do.

Over the past week, I’ve had the pleasure of reading our students end of year reports on Hero, signing certificates, and reflecting on their incredible achievements throughout 2025. Our students have represented Harrisville School with absolute pride across academic, sporting, cultural, and leadership events. It has been truly rewarding to see the growth, progress, and resilience each of our learners has shown. Students will receive their end of year reports at the end of next week on Hero, and we will be acknowledging their achievements at our Prizegiving on Tuesday 16th December at 10:30am. I want to acknowledge all our children who come to school each day ready to learn showing resilience, responsibility, respect, and positive relationships. They make Harrisville School a special place to be, and we are incredibly proud of every one of them.
On Monday 15th December, we will celebrate and farewell our Year 6 students. Graduating from primary school is a significant milestone marking the end of childhood and the beginning of adolescence.
Many of our Year 6 learners began their Harrisville journey as excited 5 year olds. Since then, they have embraced every opportunity, shown resilience, demonstrated leadership, and consistently lived the values that make our school such a special place. We are incredibly proud of the young people they have become. As they move on to new schools, new friendships, and the next exciting chapter in their learning journey, we wish them every success. They will always be part of the Harrisville whānau.
To our Board of Trustees thank you for your time, expertise, and governance throughout the year. Your commitment ensures Harrisville School remains a well resourced, safe, and forward focused learning environment where our children can thrive.
A huge thank you also to our HSC team. Your ongoing efforts have been outstanding from community events and fundraising to the Pet Day Gala, discos, and countless ways you support school activities. Your contribution strengthens our school culture and provides valuable opportunities for our students. We are especially grateful for the discounted EOTC costs for 2026 and for the new picnic tables, these make a real difference for our learners and our community. We are excited for the plans ahead as we move into 2026.
Everything we have achieved this year has been the result of teamwork, dedication, and a shared belief in providing the very best for our children. Harrisville School is a special place, and that comes from the collective effort of our staff, students, whānau, Board, and HSC.

As we look ahead to 2026, we remain committed to strengthening learning, growing our culture, and continuing to make Harrisville School an exceptional place for our tamariki to thrive. We truly achieve great things together.
