Dear Parents, Whānau, and Friends,
Thank you to all who attended our Meet the Teacher/Goal Setting Interviews. This was a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and for us to get to know you and share expectations for the year. I would also like thank the kind person who brought Pizza for the staff on Thursday night. Whoever you are, thank you it meant a lot to our team.  If you could not make it for some reason but would still like to meet with the teacher, please do not hesitate to make an appointment. We look forward to learning with and spending more time with you and your family this year. Our doors are always open.

You as a parent/caregiver play a very important role in the education of your child. Your enthusiasm about education and your interest in your child’s progress is crucial to how well they do at school. We need you also to support your child’s teacher and that is why we place such a great emphasis on interview sessions such as the recent ‘Meet the Teacher’ and ‘3 Way Goal Setting’. It is important that we can build a relationship and set expectations around learning.

I would like to welcome our new students and their whānau who have started with us over the last term to our Whakatau Assembly next Friday 14th March at 9am in our school hall. We hold a Whakatau Assembly every term to welcome our new families and it would be great to have you here. 

 On Friday 28th February we had our Harrisville School Swimming Sports Day for our Year 4, 5 and 6 students. The event was held at the Tuakau Centennial Pool and we had a super hot, sunny day for it. It was a day filled with lots of cheering, talent in the pool, resilience, awesome effort from our students and most importantly, it was a day filled with fun! 

Well done to everyone who participated in the competitive races and the fun races. Congratulations to all of those people who received a placing in their finals. Awards will be given out for our Harrisville School Swimming Sports Day at one of our up and coming assemblies. 

A massive thank you needs to go to all of the parents, teachers and staff who helped out on the day - you were all awesome! It is fantastic help like this that allows us to be able to run events successfully. Thank you also to all of the parents and family members who came along to encourage, support and cheer for the children on the day.

On Friday 7th March we will be sending a team of 21 students along to compete at the River Zone Swimming Sports Day, which is being held at Onewhero Area School. Good luck to everyone who is going to be representing Harrisville School at this! Swimming lessons will continue at school for all students everyday of Term 1 so please make sure students have their togs.

Earlier this week we held the Junior Swimming Demonstration for our Junior Team to celebrate their final session with the wonderful team at Fulton Swim School. It was fantastic to see so many parents and whānau members come along to support our junior students as they showcased the new skills they have learned over the past three weeks during our coaching sessions with Fulton’s.

We are incredibly proud of the progress each student has made and would like to extend a huge thank you to our amazing instructors you have done an outstanding job! It was a joy to see the smiles on our students' faces as they received their ribbons a well-earned reward for their hard work and perseverance. We look forward to seeing them continue to build on their aquatic skills in the years to come.  Swimming lessons will continue at school for all students everyday of Term 1 so please make sure students have their togs. 

Room One tamariki worked on creating amazing self-portraits! We focused on looking closely at the details that make each of us unique—our eye colour, hair style, and special features. The children followed a step-by-step process, starting with drawing the shape of their face and adding facial features to bring their portraits to life. This activity helped develop both observation skills and perseverance, and I am so proud of their efforts! Ka pai, Room One! 

Te Whare Kai has been proudly serving nutritious, delicious meals to students in our community for over three years and are excited to bring this opportunity to Harrisville School on Fridays, offering students the chance to enjoy a freshly prepared meal from their kitchen once a week – delivered to the school at an affordable price.

Order Deadline: Orders and payments must be submitted by Tuesday at 3 pm for Friday delivery.

One Form Per Student: Please submit a separate form for each child.

Absence Policy: In case of absence or inability to collect the lunch, refunds cannot be provided; however, the meal will be given to a student in need.

We have transitioned from our school app to the Hero app. Along with our Facebook page and website, the Hero app is our main way of communicating with you. Through Hero, you’ll be able to follow your child’s progress in real time, reacting to and commenting on posts, media, goals, and updates. You’ll also stay informed by viewing school notices in the Community Feed and receive only the information that’s relevant to your family.

We are excited about these improvements, and we look forward to continuing our strong partnership with you to support our students’ success!
